The process

It starts with a meet and greet and a few more visits with Pawrents before your Pooch and I go on our solo walk. Once your furry friend is comfortable with me, knowns me, trust me, is happy to see me, then our journey begins. I really need to get to know your dog well, behavior, personality, recall and many other aspects.

How I like to do things

Hello! My name is Phil.  Over the past few years, I have done plenty of dog walking and house sitting.  Sometimes, I’ve combined both into one!  At first, it was only for friends.  Over time, my reputation grew as someone who loved dogs and loved taking care of them.  This has continued to this day and I look forward to being able to continue with my passion for dog care.

My latest house/dog sitting job lasted 5 months and has just ended.  It was a complete joy, lots of hikes, swimming and play time with Jackson, a 110-pound black Labrador Retriever.  As one can imagine, that was a huge commitment.  I don’t mind as when I commit, I given 100% effort!  However, now that I have some time, I am looking forward to developing further relationships with more fantastic dogs and their people.   While I no longer house sit for Jackson, I remain his dog walker and we see each other a few times a week.  I am thrilled to be able to see him regularly and judging from his reaction when I pick him up, he’s thrilled to see me!

My goal is to build long term, quality relationships.  When I first was in touch with Jackson’s owner, we decided a slow process of building trust was essential.  It was important that he was able to stay in his own environment for that extended time period.  We planned ahead and had meet & greets, playtime and dinners at Jackson’s home.  Jackson was given the time to become used to me being in his environment and to build trust with me.  This led to a successful time together for those 5 months.  I am currently spending the same sort of time building a relationship with another dog and owner as they are going away for a couple of weeks in March.  I do believe that this approach leads to the best chance of success.  The happier your dog is to see me the happier everyone will be.

While house sitting, I am happy to look after whatever needs to be done.  Both your dog’s wellbeing and your peace of mind are my top priorities.  Our days would generally be spent out of the house walking and swimming in the many spots I know around the North Shore.

Thank you and I look forward to meeting you and your pooch!
